One year in the LEAP speakers bureau

For me, the end of November marked one year of public involvement with drug policy reform and the LEAP speakers burreau. Last year, Jody Paterson wrote a column for the Victoria Times-Colonist to announce my involvement with Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. If you're interested in reading the column it is now archived on Jody's blog.

  1. Congrats on your anniversary David. I'm sure I speak for the other readers when I say I'm looking forward to many more years of your involvement in the anti-prohibition movement.

  2. Maybe that wasn't worded correctly Rhayader. We don't want to see "many more years" of any Prohibition. And for myself, I want my good ole' cops back, you know, the ones who caught the rapist, thieves, child molesters, bank robbers and so on....... . The ones who wave hello to you when you drive by. Seems like a dream anymore.
Personally, and it depends on which day of the week it is and the news, but, it gets harder and harder for me to accept that Prohibition continues. Especially when the powers that be DO know the truth and still hide behind the lies.

  3. I third the congrats. Ironically I too am coming up on my one year "anniversary."

I agree with Lea that I want the good ole' cops back, the ones who I recall at my elementary school with the strong Irish accent telling us to "crawsss at the crawssswalk." :-)

  4. I remember reading that article, coincidentally not many months after I had first heard about LEAP. I was so pleased to know there was someone speaking common sense against sanity. As a member of the Victoria Libertarian Book Club, let me tell you that we are laying the foundation to better aid LEAP in battling this destructive encroachment on liberty, and look forward to positive steps in the coming year.

Sure, we may not want to see that, but we undoubtedly will. Outside of marijuana, the anti-prohibition stance is still very much a minority viewpoint. Given those inescapable unfortunate facts, I certainly hope that David and the rest of the folks at LEAP continue to make their voices heard.
