A couple of days ago I did a brief three minute interview with Marcia MacMillan from CTV News. We talked about the Vienna Declaration and the fact that drug prohibition is fuelling the AIDS epidemic. This was my first live news interview so I tried to give my best talking head impression. :-)
Great job David -- you seemed calm and confident, you spoke clearly and at a good pace, and of course your information was top-notch. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteDitto from Drew.
ReplyDeleteWow, awesome job David! Very articulate! You explained the goals of LEAP and the Vienna Declaration in a nutshell and why people should also back these idea's. I'm going to forward the video to friends and family who are iffy or against decriminalization/legalization. It's time for 360 in our drug policy. So much of the misery associated with drug use is the prohibition itself.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the positive feedback. Now that I have done one of these kinds of interviews and survived I will be open to doing more of them in the future.
ReplyDeleteI would add that the host was good. She didn't attack you, or talk in a rapid-fire manner, trying to get you hyped up.
ReplyDeleteJust being under all those spotlights with lots of attention on a guy can adrenalize the situation, let alone a host with too much coffee in his system who is pressured with offstage mangers pointing at the clock.
True enough CAP... I guess you can tell it's a Canadian station... our news anchors are very polite up here!
ReplyDeleteThat was an outstanding first effort! Not much in the way of 'uuuhs' or 'aaahs', just nice, clean, point by point messaging. Well done!
